Abstract
Since the September 11th attacks in New York and Washington in 2001 there has been an emergence of mainstream debate discussing the position of faith and religion by a generation of worldwide thinkers and intellectuals. The relevance of the debate has developed from the highlighting of extremist ideologies that stem from religious faith, such as Islamic Jihadism and Christian Fundamentalism across the Western world.
